The Jacuzzi® brand just introduced its newest hot tub collection, the J-LX® Collection, featuring two distinct models with the exclusive FX-IR Seat that combines patented Infrared and Red Light therapy seamlessly into their already award-winning hydrotherapy experiences. Jacuzzi® is the very first and only brand to deliver Infrared and Red Light therapy technology across a wide range of its wellness products, including hot tubs, saunas and swim spas. This cutting-edge technology integrates rejuvenation into your relaxation experience and the Red Light therapy technology makes your already enjoyable spa time even more effective and productive.

Since Infrared and Red Light therapy is entirely new to hot tubs, you may wonder what is infrared therapy and does it work? Infrared technology incorporates an added wellness experience into your relaxation so you can effortlessly soothe sore muscles and ease tension while enjoying the regenerative qualities of Red Light therapy.

What is Infrared therapy?

Infrared therapy is not new to Jacuzzi®; the brand has been leading this technology through its IR saunas for several years. Seeing the incredible benefits in a sauna application, they decided to do more research on how these same benefits could be achieved with Infrared and Red Light therapy applied in a hot tub setting. Jacuzzi® experts worked with a PhD at the Cleveland Clinic to develop a white paper on the technology and the benefits of Infrared therapy. At the conclusion of this research and seeing the amazing benefits they could bring their spa customers, Jacuzzi® began working with an experienced development partner to identify the exact wavelength output requirements for the Near Infrared (NIR) and the Red Light therapy in an underwater application.

In the new J-LX® collection, Jacuzzi® is using NIR waves to penetrate below the skin into the deeper muscle tissue specifically in the lower back area while specialized deep Red Light reaches surface tissue and cells to ensure a long-lasting feeling of regeneration. The rejuvenating powers of Infrared and Red Light therapy work together deep beneath the skin’s surface to relieve pain and improve range of motion.

FX-IR Seat

Both hot tub models in the J-LX® Collection feature the FX-IR Seat, which performs the Jacuzzi® brand’s most advanced hydrotherapy. The FX-IR Seat combines full-back and neck hydromassage with near Infrared and deep Red Light therapy to target deep tissue within the lumbar region of the lower back. Essentially, the J-LX® Collection is designed to give you the most rejuvenating and regenerating hydrotherapy experience available, that will last long after you step out of the hot tub.

What are the benefits of Infrared therapy?

Pain relief is one of the key benefits delivered through Infrared therapy. It is particularly effective in the lower back region. Considering many people suffer from chronic lower back pain this is especially important. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “an estimated 619 million people live worldwide with LBP and it is the leading cause of disability worldwide.” The organization also reports that LBP has “the highest prevalence globally among musculoskeletal conditions; it is the condition where the greatest number of people may benefit from rehabilitation.”

Furthermore, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports the “percentage of adults with back pain increased with age from 28.4% for those aged 18-29 and 35.2% for those aged 30-44 to 44.3% for those aged 45-65 and 45.6% for those aged 65 and over.”

The statistics don’t end there. Chronic pain caused by arthritis and severe joint pain is an ongoing problem in the U.S. The CDC states that “one in four adults with arthritis—15 million people—report experiencing severe joint pain related to arthritis. Additionally, nearly half of adults with arthritis have persistent pain.”

Knowing that lower back pain is a struggle for people across the globe, Jacuzzi® decided to focus solely on the lower back of the FX therapy seat. The application of Near Infrared (NIR) to the lower back muscles promotes healing with consistent use of the therapy.

In the Jacuzzi® J-LX Collection, for example, the rejuvenating powers of Infrared are combined with the regenerative qualities of Red Light therapy. They work together deep beneath the skin’s surface to relieve pain, improve range of motion.

Imagine starting Infrared and Red Light therapy now and avoiding becoming a statistic — all while enjoying euphoric hydrotherapy like no other. That in itself is a key benefit, not to mention this experience doesn’t require exhausting trips to the gym, or awkwardly hanging upside down on inversion equipment to try to relieve pain.

Does Infrared therapy work?

The short answer is yes. The Jacuzzi® J-LX® Collection’s patented design is engineered with full-spectrum light therapy with Infrared Light wavelength of 850nm and Red Light wavelength of 660nm. It is designed to offer full-body benefits that soothe, relax and rejuvenate.

How does Infrared therapy work?

In the Jacuzzi® J-LX® Collection, Near Infrared waves are used to penetrate below the skin into the deeper muscle tissue specifically in the lower back area. You can select the IR and Red Light therapy session from the topside control and it will run for a 20-minute cycle. Its integration into the Jacuzzi® SmartTub® System and app allows you to keep track of your IR and Red Light therapy sessions.

Is Infrared and Red Light therapy safe?

You can be confident in using Infrared and Red Light therapy to enhance your relaxation, knowing this technology is founded in scientific research. The Infrared and Red Light technology used in Jacuzzi® hot tubs and other wellness products deliver preprogrammed therapy which takes the guesswork out of treatment. To ensure safety, Jacuzzi® has tested this product to the IEC 62471 Photobiological Safety Standard in both a wet and dry application.

It cannot be used too much. Because its integrated design works in tandem with hydrotherapy, it’s easy and stress-free to use — all you have to do is relax and enjoy full-body rejuvenation and regeneration.
