You’ve made your purchase, and you’re excited to start enjoying your hot tub. Before delivery, don’t forget one very important step: Make sure you have the proper foundation on which to install it. Here are four hot tub foundation ideas that will ensure your hot tub is positioned correctly and looks great.

CONCRETE
A concrete surface is an excellent base for your hot tub as this material is extremely sturdy and long-lasting. If you have an existing patio made of concrete bricks, make sure it’s in good condition and is level (not angled for drainage). A customized poured concrete pad is an even better choice. Having a single slab rather than multiple blocks will increase the durability, and you can customize the size and shape to fit your spa’s specific dimensions.

DECK
Decks can be an easy choice, as they are already level and solid. Most well-built decks can handle a hot tub, but make sure you have proper supports, as a fully loaded hot tub can weigh more than 4,000 pounds. You should always have an existing deck inspected before your hot tub is installed.

SPA PAD
You can purchase a prefabricated hot tub foundation pad that will rest over a spot in your backyard and keep your spa level. You will still need to clear the area of grass and topsoil, but laying a spa pad is an easy way to get a luxurious-looking base.
