Troubleshooting FLO Error Message for Hot Tubs

FLO error examples:

These messages indicate that the hot tub’s flow sensing device should be closed, but the circuit board is detecting that it is electronically open.

Listed below are examples of FLO error messages that may be displayed on the control panel of your hot tub when there is a flow issue. The error messages will vary depending on the model of the hot tub and/or the cause of the problem.

These messages indicate that the hot tub’s flow sensing device is rapidly alternating between open and closed.

Troubleshooting FLO Error Message

If all components are functioning normally and the hot tub is operating, but an FLO message is still appearing, it could indicate a blockage in plumbing or an airlock.

1. Check that filter is clean and does not need to be replaced. An old or dirty filter can cause an FLO error message to pop up. Look for debris anywhere in the hot tub that could be causing a blockage and gently remove it if seen.

2. If the pump(s) are still running, shut the hot tub off at the breaker. Remove the filter, or if the hot tub has more than one filter remove both filters, turn the hot tub back on and let the hot tub run with the pump(s) on for five minutes with the filter(s) out. If the error message goes away, you can put the filters back in and you do not need to call for service.

3. If the above troubleshooting tip does not help, try this next method: grab a garden hose and put a towel or rag over the spout of the hose. Remove filter. With the hot tub powered off, stick the spout of the hose into the filter hole and run the hose on for two to three minutes. If you have two filters, insert the hose on top of the filter hole that has a grate mesh cover over it. If the error message goes away, reinstall the filter, turn the hot tub back on, and you do not need to call for service.

4. Lastly, if the above steps do not help, try shutting the hot tub off at the breaker for 5 to 10 minutes, then restart the hot tub to reset it.

If none of the above-mentioned steps failed to resolve the FLO error message or your hot tub has been completely deactivated and is not operating, you will then need to call your dealer to set up a service appointment for a proper diagnosis.
